Learn a process model from event data to gain an intuitive understanding of your process flow. Process models provide a clear foundation for further in-depth analysis, enabling you to uncover insights and drive process improvements.

  • Identifying process flow
  • Understanding process variants
  • Detecting performance bottlenecks
  • BPMN process discovery & editing

Bottleneck Identification & Performance Analysis

Performance insights are essential for effective process optimization. PMTk provides a range of functionalities to analyze the performance aspects of processes, helping you identify and pinpoint bottlenecks.

  • Various visual analytics features to easily unveil performance issues
  • Resource allocation optimization
  • What-If Analysis

No-Code Data Filtering

Event data filtering and querying are vital components of any process mining project, and the ability to effortlessly zoom in and out of your data and processes is key. PMTk offers intuitive and user-friendly filtering options, eliminating the need for complex textual queries.

  • Complex data filter chains can be easily defined
  • All plots and visualization are interactive and can be used for data filtering
  • Standard SQL support for complex data filtering

Variant Analysis

Understanding process execution variants is essential for gaining insights into the overall process. Variant analysis uncovers the structure and complexity of processes, helping to identify patterns, variations, and areas for improvement.

  • Analyze prevalent process behaviors
  • Identify costly and time-consuming process variants
  • Filter out process execution outliers

Advanced Dashboards

PMTk's comprehensive dashboards and advanced visual analytics capabilities enable seamless process exploration and facilitate the quick identification of critical points in your process.

  • Highly configurable and individualizable dashboards
  • Dotted chart analysis to discover temporal process patterns
  • Interactive temporal distribution plots

Conformance Checking

Conformance checking is a critical aspect of process mining, as it compares actual process executions with the expected process model to identify any deviations.

  • Compare your process with a reference process model
  • Discover and quantify deviations
  • Ensure process compliance

Data Import/Export

PMTk supports a wide range of standard data formats, making it easy to import and export event data and other process mining artifacts.

  • SQL support enables direct connection to any database for data extraction
  • Pre-configured data connectors for various information systems
  • Supporting BPMN, XES, CSV, and XLSX

Event Data Workbench

Proper event data preparation is key to successful process mining. PMTk offers a range of tools and methods to streamline event data preparation.

  • PMTk features event abstraction techniques to transform low-level events into high-level ones
  • PMTk's no-code filtering functionalities streamline event data preparation

FAQ

PMTk was initially created at Fraunhofer FIT and developed there over several years. Starting in 2024, Fraunhofer FIT entirely outsourced PMTk to its spin-off Process Intelligence Solutions (P. I. S.), which is now responsible for PMTk's development, distribution, and licensing.

The PMTk web application runs in a browser (Google Chrome , Firefox , and Microsoft Edge are officially supported), with calculations processed on a server. The server can be either self-hosted (see licensing option (2) Self-Hosted) or cloud-based (see licensing option (3) Cloud).

The desktop application (see licensing option (1) Standalone) is a native app that runs locally on a single computer, without the need for a server.

Both versions, web and desktop application, offer the same process and data analytics features. However, the web application includes a shared workspace, allowing users to collaborate and share artifacts like event data, data filters, and process models. This feature is not available in the desktop version.

The EDU license is specifically designed for students, researchers, and lecturers at academic institutions. It provides free access to PMTk for research and teaching purposes only. The EDU license does not permit the use of PMTk in research projects involving industry partners.
