The single box plot summarizes the duration distribution across 979 qualifying cases, with the summary table showing max source and target occurrence counts and the number of outliers.
The Time Between dashboard is a focused analysis tool for investigating the time elapsed between two specific activities across all cases in the event log. Given a Source Activity and a Target Activity, it computes the duration of the eventually-follows relation between them for every case in which both activities occur, and presents the results as a box plot alongside a summary statistics table.
This view is particularly useful for measuring how long a specific step or handover takes in practice, and for comparing that duration across different subgroups of cases.
At the top of the view, the Activity Selection panel allows you to define the relation to analyze:
The activity from which the time measurement begins, selected via the chevron. The row of buttons below the chevron sets the Source Selection strategy, determining which occurrence of the source activity is used when it appears multiple times within a case:
The activity at which the time measurement ends, selected via its own chevron. Only occurrences of the target activity that appear after the resolved source activity are considered. For example, in a sequence B → A → B where A is the source and B is the target, only the second B would be counted (and would be treated as the first eligible occurrence of the target under the given eventually-follows relation). Besides this restriction, the Target Selection strategy buttons below the target chevron apply with the same logic as for source.
Once the source and target activities are configured, click Calculate Statistics to compute and display the results.

Screenshot shows the Time Between dashboard analyzing the relation between Cancel Goods Receipt and Cancel Invoice Receipt. Group by Case Attributes is active, grouping results by Month of Case Start. Each group is represented as a separate color-coded box plot, with the summary table below showing duration statistics per group.
The Statistics section displays a box plot of the relation durations across all qualifying cases, showing the distribution from minimum to maximum including the interquartile range, median, average, and min/max values both with and without outliers.
Below the box plot, a summary table provides additional detail. The content of the table depends on whether a Group by Case Attributes is active:
Without grouping, the table shows a single row with the following columns:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Cases | The number of cases containing the specified eventually-follows relation. |
| Max Source | The maximum number of occurrences of the source activity observed in any single case. |
| Max Target | The maximum number of occurrences of the target activity in any single case, with the maximum number of occurrences after the source shown in brackets. |
| N. Outliers | The number of duration values classified as outliers. |
With Group by Case Attributes active, each group is shown as a separate column with its own color-coded label, and the table is expanded to include the following rows (which can also be found in the box plot): Cases, Average, Median, Q-25%, Q-75%, Min and Max (without outliers), and Total Min and Total Max (with outliers).
These chart controls are accessible via the icon buttons in its top-right corner:
| Control | Description |
|---|---|
| Configuration | Toggles the chart's configuration panel. See below for details on available settings. |
| Legend | Toggle the legend that appears when a Group by Case Attributes setting is active. |
| Expand View | Expands the chart to fill the screen for a closer look. |
| Download | Exports the chart as an image or downloads the underlying plot data. |
The configuration panel provides the following options.
| Setting | Description | Values |
|---|---|---|
| Show Outliers | Controls whether outlier data points are included in the box plot. |
|
| Time Unit | Sets the time unit used in the box plot and summary table. |
|
| Group by Case Attributes | Splits the analysis into multiple colored box plots, one per selected attribute value. |
