Settings  User Management

Screenshot of PMTk – the Process Mining Toolkit

Screenshot shows the User Management dialog listing three users. The third user (test_user1), carrying a View Only license, is expanded to reveal their per-project view and edit permissions. Click at the top to search users; pagination controls appear at the bottom of the list.

User Management lets the instance owner control who can access PMTk and what they are allowed to do. It is available exclusively on hosted instances of PMTk (not in the Standalone version) and is only accessible to users with the Owner role.

User Roles

Every user is assigned one of three roles. Roles define access to administrative features independently of any per-project permissions:

RoleCapabilities
Owner
  • Manage Users: access to User Management (this page), where roles and per-project permissions can be configured.
  • Manage PMTk: access to Feature Management (Beta), where the visible components, available filters, and component-specific defaults can be customized.
  • Manage Projects: can view and edit all projects and create new ones.
  • Can view and edit the SQL Importer.
Admin
  • Manage Projects: can view and edit all projects and create new ones.
  • Can view and edit the SQL Importer.
User Can view and/or edit specific projects based on the permissions granted by the Owner (see Project Permissions below).

Project Permissions

For users with the User role, access is controlled per project. Click on a user row to expand the list of projects and toggle their access independently:

PermissionDescription
View The user can open and browse the project but cannot make changes. These features are disabled within that project:
  • Uploading event logs, BPMN models, or other files.
  • Renaming or editing descriptions of existing artefacts.
  • Creating new event log or BPMN artefacts through components such as the BPMN Model.
  • Saving global configurations in components such as the Pivoter or Process Cube (only private configurations can be saved).
EditThe user can make changes within the project, i.e., uploading files, renaming artefacts, saving global configurations, and so on.

License Type

Each user account carries a license type of either Full or View Only. A View Only license automatically restricts the account to the User role and limits all project permissions to view access. This means the restrictions listed above apply permanently and across all projects for that user.
