Handling Data  PMTk Attributes

In addition to the columns you import from the source file, PMTk automatically adds a set of derived attributes to the event log. All of these attributes are available for use in filters, visualizations, and other components alongside your own data.

All durational attributes (Wait Times, Work Times, Throughput Times, etc.) are stored as numbers in seconds.

Mapped Attributes

These attributes correspond directly to the columns assigned during import (or already present in .xes files). They carry no extra computation, as they are the raw values from your source data stored under PMTk's internal names.

Display NameInternal NameDescription
Case IDcase:concept:nameThe unique identifier of the case, as assigned during import.
Activityconcept:nameThe name of the activity executed at this event, as assigned during import.
Timestamptime:timestampThe completion timestamp of the event, as assigned during import.
Start Timestampstart_timestamp The start timestamp of the event. Equals time:timestamp if not assigned during import.
Resourceorg:resourceThe person, machine, or system that executed the activity, as assigned during import.
Organizational Grouporg:groupThe organizational unit or department associated with the event. Present only when this attribute exists in the source data (common in .xes logs).
Activity (Lifecycle)@@classifier A combined label of activity name and lifecycle transition (e.g. Create Order+complete). Present only when the event log contains lifecycle transition data, typically in .xes logs.

Case-Level Computed Attributes

These attributes are derived per case and have a single value for each case across all its events. They are recomputed each time the event log is loaded, so they always reflect the current state of the log, including any active filters that may have changed the case composition.

Display NameInternal NameDescription
Case Index (starting from 1)@@case_indexA sequential number identifying each case by its position in the event log, starting from 1.
Case Throughput Time@@case_throughputThe total duration of the case, measured from the timestamp of the first event to the timestamp of the last event.
Constant 1@@countA numeric value of 1 on every event. Useful as a counting attribute in aggregations and metrics where a simple event count is needed.
Month of Case Start@@case_start_monthThe calendar month (1-12) in which the first event of the case occurred.
Month & Year of Case Start@@case_start_ymonthThe month and year combined (e.g. 2024-01) in which the first event of the case occurred.
Year of Case Start@@case_start_yearThe calendar year in which the first event of the case occurred.
Week of Case Start@@case_start_weekThe ISO calendar week number in which the first event of the case occurred.
Month of Case End@@case_end_monthThe calendar month (1-12) in which the last event of the case occurred.
Month & Year of Case End@@case_end_ymonthThe month and year combined in which the last event of the case occurred.
Year of Case End@@case_end_yearThe calendar year in which the last event of the case occurred.
Week of Case End@@case_end_weekThe ISO calendar week number in which the last event of the case occurred.

Event-Level Computed Attributes

These attributes are computed per event and may differ across events within the same case. Like case-level attributes, they are recomputed each time the event log is loaded so that time-based values (Wait Times, Work Times, etc.) always reflect the current filtered state of the log.

Display NameInternal NameDescription
Event Index (starting from 1)@@event_indexA sequential number identifying the position of the event within the event log, starting from 1.
Work Time@@service_timeThe time the resource actively spent executing this activity, measured as the difference between the start and completion timestamps of the event. Is 0 if Start Timestamps is not specified.
Wait Time@@waiting_timeThe idle time within the case between the completion of the previous event and the start of this event.
Wait + Work Time@@sojourn_timeThe combined wait and work time for this event: the total time elapsed from when the previous event in the case completed to when this event completed.
Resource Wait Time@@resource_waitingThe time the assigned resource was idle between completing their previous activity and starting this one. Unlike Wait Time, this is resource-based rather than case-based.
Resource Wait + Work Time@@resource_sojournThe combined resource idle time and work time: the total time from when the resource finished their previous activity to when they completed this one.
